About The Position
The Buyer II - Food Service position at Katy ISD is a critical role within the Nutrition and Food Service Department, reporting directly to the Director of Purchasing. This position is responsible for overseeing the procurement processes related to food service, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The Buyer will collect and review information for all Nutrition and Food Service purchases, presenting data on purchasing processes including solicitation, contracts, audits, and record management. The role requires a thorough understanding of public procurement and child nutrition regulations, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments to develop and maintain policies and procedures for food purchases. In this role, the Buyer will lead procurement projects, performing cost price analysis for Nutrition and Food Service purchases. They will create and maintain records of expenditures, ensuring proper documentation for internal and external audits. The Buyer will also assist in collecting information for Public Information Requests and will be expected to attend meetings and training sessions as a representative of the Nutrition and Food Services and Purchasing Departments. The position demands clear communication with stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to deadlines. The Buyer will approve purchase requests, vendor contracts, and expense claims, ensuring compliance with all applicable policies and procedures. This position is full-time and requires the ability to work with frequent interruptions while maintaining emotional control under stress.
