About The Position

Arclin USA is currently looking for a Buyer to join their procurement team at their Roswell, GA location. This position reports into the Customer Service & Purchasing Manager and is responsible for the execution of established procurement strategies to support the organization with procuring high-quality, cost effective raw materials and services.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Business, Accounting, Science or equivalent degree required
  • 3-5 years' of purchasing/procurement experience required
  • Solid knowledge of purchasing profession and chemical industry
  • Strong knowledge of contract design
  • Understanding of marketplace relating to goods and services purchased
  • General understanding of business issues and financial principles
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Office, Outlook, JDE)
  • Ability to plan and prioritize a wide variety of activities
  • Project management skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbally and written)

Responsibilities

  • Develop a purchasing strategy for select Major/Minor Chemical and MRO categories, including but not limited to Caustic, Glycerin, Glycols, KOH, Sulfamic Acid, and all others
  • Major chemical procurement as assigned
  • MRO ‘Maintenance, Repair and Operating’ supplies, procurement activities (currently working with a third-party consultant-managing those activities)
  • Participate in Energy related buying decisions – working with a third-party consultant in management of those activates
  • Capital – involvement in the Capital procurement process to support plant specific capital (IR) projects
  • Considerations for consolidation across the company with national suppliers standardization where possible in order to obtain materials at the lowest cost with considerations of safety, quality, and sustainability, reliability of source and urgency of need
  • “Risk-adverse” – ensure we have back-up suppliers for Minor Chemicals and other categories of critical spend
  • Draft and negotiate agreements with suppliers including but not limited to: terms and conditions, pricing, escalation clauses (price reduction clauses), warranty, performance expectations, total cost of ownership, delivery performance, rebates, vendor-managed inventory, etc.
  • Resolve supplier issues relating to quality, delivery and pricing
  • Identify cost savings projects
  • Solicit “Request for Quotes” from suppliers this includes interviewing suppliers, recommending sources of supply, requesting and analyzing quotations from multiple suppliers, preparing recommendations as a result of these quotes
  • Bi-weekly market updates
  • JDE Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Training of on-coming employees in the Procure-to-Pay environment
