Job Summary Coordinate activities involved with sourcing and procuring goods and services, such as WIP components and finished goods with contract manufacturers. Essential Functions Manage inventory and production planning for a variety of finished and semi-finished goods. Manage supply chain logistics and timelines to support new product launches, dual sourcing, transfer of production and ongoing production. Prepare purchase orders or bid requests. Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintain co-manufacturer relationships to ensure business needs are being met. Facilitate raw material and packaging shipments from warehouse to co-manufacturer. Coordinate, monitor, and follow up on out-of-house processing and packaging. Prepare and execute negotiations with suppliers to achieve competitive service, quality, & price. Investigate and secure sources for production services as situations dictate. Coordinate between manufacturing, financial accounting, and marketing departments on matters of procurement. Provide accurate projections on expenditures, price variances, and inventory levels for planning purposes. Maintain records, price lists, market information, price history, deliveries, suppliers etc., to be available for use. Monitor and discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with supervisors or quality control personnel, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Solicit cost reduction ideas from suppliers and initiate follow-up action to implement these savings for the company. Position may be required to travel both domestic and international. Position requires a high degree of integrity, ability to analyze problems, mature judgment, and initiative to locate proper sources of supply and ensure deliveries to meet production schedules. Requires the ability to interface well with other internal departments and outside suppliers. Additional Responsibilities May approve invoices for payment May expedite delivery of goods to users Identify and help implement improvement projects Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities. Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Maintain multiple projects with strong time management skills.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems a must.
  • Advanced MS Excel analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in finding and qualifying contract manufacturers for the production and formulation of both new and existing products.
  • Experience with contract manufacturing processes and new product formulation development are necessary.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
