About The Position

The Buyer 1, under the direction of the Director of Supply Chain, supports daily purchasing activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment serving commercial, government, and defense customers. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to learn quickly, and the capability to work independently to resolve issues. Clear communication, attention to detail, and sound decision-making are essential for success.

Requirements

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to work across all levels of the organization.
  • Minimum two (2) years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Buyer handling components, assemblies, or metal fabrication.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a technical discipline

Responsibilities

  • Execute tactical purchasing activities in alignment with supply chain strategy.
  • Review and analyze MRP requirements to procure materials that meet production schedules.
  • Issue, manage, and maintain purchasing documents based on MRP signals or non-production requisitions.
  • Maintain accountability for cost, schedule adherence, and inventory levels for assigned materials.
  • Monitor supplier performance and provide regular updates to the Director of Supply Chain and Quality teams.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve delivery issues to prevent schedule interruptions.
  • Expedite or escalate purchase orders as needed to support dynamic production demands.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality to resolve non-conforming material within required timelines.
  • Collaborate with internal business units, including Engineering, Production, and Quality.
  • Support supplier development and qualification activities in coordination with Engineering.
  • Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives and meet savings goals established by leadership.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
