About The Position

The Garage Sale Vintage Buy-Sell-Trade Buyer is a part-time role focused on providing exceptional customer service in a retail environment. This position involves managing seller appointments, processing transactions, and maintaining inventory while embodying the brand's hospitality ethos. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about vintage items and current selling trends, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation at the Buy-Sell-Trade counter.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in a high volume, professional retail environment.
  • 1-2 years in a Buy/Sell/Trade retail setting (Recommended).
  • Strong organizational and accounting skills (Google Sheets / Excel).
  • Ability to multitask and stay focused under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and manage individual time to achieve daily tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate as part of a team.
  • Personality and flexibility to work in a fast-paced and creative work environment.
  • Ability to provide consistent, quality customer service at the counter.
  • Ability to handle constructive criticism about Buy/Sell/Trade decisions and a willingness to learn about clothes, trends, and vintage daily.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with sellers about purchases and payment.
  • Reliable mode of transportation to work at both Boulder and Denver locations.
  • Personal cell phone for effective team communications in the Square Team App.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Check in seller appointments at the beginning of and throughout the day.
  • Learn the scheduling software (Calendly) and make adjustments as needed.
  • Check phone voicemail and return calls and emails regarding BST processes.
  • Contact clients if any scheduling conflicts arise.
  • Explain and operate the Buy/Sell/Trade process thoroughly with each seller and ensure they are aware of payout scale options.
  • Be familiar with Square POS, checkbooks, and gift card procedures.
  • Purchase seasonally appropriate items according to styling guides set by the BST Manager.
  • Stay informed about marketing promotions throughout the company.
  • Educate yourself on best sellers in each store and current selling trends.
  • Build knowledge of vintage items continuously.
  • Communicate company policies clearly to clients.
  • Schedule appointments appropriately to select items in a timely manner.
  • Instruct or book clients for additional appointments if their item count exceeds the maximum for one meeting.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure daily operations of the BST counter function smoothly.
  • Fill downtime responsibly with appropriate tasks to maximize sales and inventory efficiency.
  • Check out customers and fill in for Retail staff when needed.
  • Record the cost of goods for each item purchased accurately for pricing and payout.
  • Manage basic daily accounting accurately.
  • Price, hang, and organize inventory orderly and request assistance from the BST Manager as needed.
  • Maintain an understanding of the store's inventory and its needs.
  • Perform full store inventory counts as required.
  • Specify items as 'As Is' or note any glaring flaws.
  • Receive wholesale inventory and properly accept it into the square system through the PO system.
  • Tag and merchandise inventory as it arrives.
  • Keep the BST counter clean and organized for processing efficiency.
  • Perform basic tasks to maintain stock of BST supplies and submit supply reorders biweekly.
  • Keep inventory behind the counter organized and get product to the floor quickly.
  • Ensure the BST area is clean at the end of the day, empty trash, and organize all of the day's inventory.
