SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS: The Butter Superintendent will be part of the management team within the Company reporting to the Butter Manager. Under limited supervision, the Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production facility. The Superintendent oversees the supervisory staff, and implements operations programs, and policies.

Requirements

  • Experience/knowledge: Previous experience in food production/manufacturing environments including a general knowledge of food ingredients and processing equipment
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Must display strong leadership qualities.
  • Must have the ability to trouble shoot problems and be persistent until a solution is found.
  • A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • The applicant must be familiar with the theory and application of clean in place (CIP), clean out of place (COP), cleaning turbulence, temperature, timing, and chemical concentration and effectively present these concepts to subordinates.
  • Applicants must have knowledge of regulatory requirements with respect to food production and sanitation (OSHA, FDA, HACCP, GMP's, and SSOP's)

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, Dairy or Food Science or four years of experience in a plant leadership role in a Dairy or Food Manufacturing facility is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews daily inventories load out schedules, and the daily production schedule with the Plant Manager.
  • Help develop production and efficiency reports.
  • Coordinates load out schedule with staff and milk movement personnel.
  • Reviews company KPI’s, and plant loss, and assists in setting goals.
  • Oversee plant quality through the review of microbiology test results, investigation of high counts and review of load out data to assure loads are within specifications.
  • Review any nonconforming product and powder C of A’s with Plant Manager, and Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager.
  • Review daily Milk, Cream, Condensed, Butter, and Powder schedule and coordinate with Marketing Manager.
  • Monitor production departments throughout shift and assure employee compliance with GMP’s, sanitation and safety.
  • Review daily audit reports.
  • Monitor wastewater facility throughout shift and assure proper completion of daily reports as required by permit and management.
  • Review CIP records daily and audit employees’ sampling techniques to assure proper sanitation standards are maintained.
  • Provide employee training and coaching in GMP and HACCP as needed.
  • Review supply inventories and prepare requisitions for approval by the Plant Manager.
  • Verify that all plant equipment is in good working condition and all preventative maintenance is being performed on a scheduled basis.
  • Review all work orders and daily maintenance reports.
  • Member of the Food Safety Team and Food Quality Team.
  • Support a company culture of continuous improvement by participating in efficiency and improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties, as necessary.
  • Assist in audits, regulatory inspections, and equipment testing.
  • Strictly enforce safety and GMP policies, and maintain superior plant cleanliness.
  • Participate and provide support to FSQA team for audit purposes.
  • This position has management and employee supervisory responsibilities for the entire facility in the area of discipline and hiring.
  • Review on the job training reviews.
  • Coordinate on-the-job training.
  • Oversee adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee scheduling of management, employees, and temporary labor.
  • Have the responsibility of reviewing timesheets, overtime and approve payroll.
