Responsibilities

  • Maintain an enthusiastic atmosphere of customer awareness with strong emphasis on fast, friendly customer service.
  • Assist customers by making product recommendations, filling special orders, and offering food‑preparation suggestions.
  • Engage in suggestive selling through telephone interactions, in‑store announcements, and one‑on-one customer engagement.
  • Receive and professionally resolve customer concerns; escalate issues to the Store Director as needed.
  • Wash and process fresh fish according to company standards.
  • Trim, cut, wrap, tray, and display meat, poultry, and seafood items.
  • Create visually appealing displays; rotate products and remove outdated or spoiled inventory.
  • Prepare seafood salads, cheese balls, steam‑prepared items, and cooked food samples.
  • Ensure proper temperatures are maintained during preparation, display, storage, and transport.
  • Follow all cutting standards and trim specifications precisely.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards throughout the department, including coolers, freezers, and work surfaces.
  • Build effective promotional and seasonal displays to drive sales.
  • Ensure the Butcher Block case and seafood displays are well stocked, rotated, fresh, and visually appealing.
  • Maintain organized, sanitary work areas and ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
  • Follow all code‑dating policies, labeling requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Schedule employees to ensure sufficient coverage and service levels.
  • Supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Train staff on store policies, cutting and preparation standards, food safety, sanitation, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of all positions and duties within the department.
  • Identify employees with high potential and support their development and advancement.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
  • Initiate personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary steps.
  • Understand and uphold company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Assist with planning daily operations and monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and profitability.
  • Understand and execute all opening and closing procedures.
  • Oversee Packaged Meat as needed and support overall department operations.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation standards, and operational procedures.
  • Assist with preparing sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Maintain inventory levels to ensure proper product quantity, quality, and freshness in accordance with division directives.
  • Stock, rotate, and maintain a well‑organized meat cooler and Butcher Block case.
  • Control shrink by ensuring proper storage, rotation, and handling techniques.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, and stocking/rotating product.
  • Adhere to temperature control, storage guidelines, and packaging requirements.
  • Complete required paperwork, including: Daily log sheets, Production charts, Meat Grinding Logs, Sales and Labor reports
  • Maintain accurate department records and administrative documentation.
  • Safely operate department equipment, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, wrapping machines, scales, tenderizers, steamers, grinders, and cutters.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and fully compliant work environment.
  • Ensure accurate signing of products, including pricing and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL).
