About the position

The Butcher Block Supervisor is responsible for maintaining an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly customer service. This role involves assisting customers with product suggestions, filling special orders, and making food preparation suggestions. The supervisor engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques through various communication methods. Daily operations planning, monitoring production processes, and ensuring profitability are key responsibilities. The supervisor is also responsible for washing and processing fresh fish, trimming, cutting, wrapping, and displaying meat, seafood, and poultry. They create effective displays, ensure cleanliness, weigh, wrap, and price products, and stock and rotate items to meet customer demands. Additionally, the supervisor prepares seafood salads, cooks food samples, and implements promotional displays. They are responsible for employee scheduling, training, and performance evaluation, as well as maintaining inventory levels and enforcing proper code dating for products.

Responsibilities

  • Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom and one-on-one customer interaction.
  • Plans daily operations, monitors production process following company procedures and profitability.
  • Responsible for washing and processing fresh fish.
  • Trims, cuts, wraps, trays and displays meat, seafood and poultry.
  • Creates effective displays for meat, poultry and seafood products, rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product.
  • Ensures cleanliness of work area and department.
  • Weighs, wraps and prices Butcher Block products.
  • Stocks and rotates meat, poultry, and seafood products to ensure quality, freshness, selection and adequate quantity to meet customer demands.
  • Prepares seafood salads and cheese balls, cooks food samples and steams fish products.
  • Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • May be responsible for the operation and maintenance of meat cooler and freezer.
  • Ensures temperatures are maintained in all phases of meat and seafood preparation, display and storage.
  • Schedules, supervises, trains and assigns duties to department employees.
  • Monitors employee productivity and evaluates overall performance.
  • Trains employees on store policies, sales and record keeping procedures.
  • Identifies and trains employees with high potential for advancement opportunities.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper code dating for all products within the department are being enforced.
  • Controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality and freshness and maintains inventory levels according to division directives.
  • Controls shrink.
  • Implements correct product preparation techniques.
