The Corporate Claims division is seeking a Business Technology Analysis Director to be responsible for overseeing aspects of our claim technology. This includes our core claim systems, claims analytics, and reinsurance automation. This position will help define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for improving the existing products and will be accountable for developing and delivering new features that meet the needs of the customers. This individual will also collaborate with other teams, such as claim business units, Business Data Analytics, IT, Corporate Claims stakeholders, and others, to ensure alignment, delivery and integration of the product improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leading and delivering successful IT and business projects, from ideation to launch and evaluation.
  • Well versed in the lifecycle of an insurance claim with a preference for candidates with claim handling experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Insurance domain expertise, a deep knowledge of various insurance functions across the value chain.
  • Passionate about innovation, creativity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience with data mining and analytics tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering AI and/or automation capabilities into production (e.g., intelligent document processing/OCR, NLP, predictive models, generative AI copilots, workflow orchestration, or RPA), including change management and user adoption.
  • Working knowledge of responsible AI practices and model governance (privacy, security, bias/fairness considerations, explainability, audit trails, and third-party/vendor risk) in regulated environments.
  • Strong process engineering mindset: ability to map workflows, identify control points, quantify benefits, and build business cases for automation investments.
  • Experience with leading claim handling platforms and supporting tools, such as Guidewire, FileNet, Tableau, Snowflake and others.
  • Experience working within the Agile development framework.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with a buy-in culture.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above is required. Field of study could be Computer Science, Business or related discipline.
  • 10-15 years of experience, including 5 or more years of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in and oversees several teams involved in the evaluation of system requirements and the maintenance, testing, and documentation of systems.
  • Leads, mentors, and develops the claims “product”, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to best practices.
  • Determines requirements, plans projects, establishes priorities, and monitors progress.
  • Evaluates project status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team's effectiveness.
  • Partners with business units and shared service organizations to understand workflows to identify opportunities to drive efficiencies.
  • Identifies, prioritizes, and sponsors AI and automation use cases across the claims value chain (e.g., intake and triage, document understanding, workflow orchestration, subrogation, and analytics), translating business outcomes into delivery-ready requirements.
  • Partners with IT, Data/Analytics, Security, and business leaders to define an AI/automation roadmap, including target-state architecture, integration patterns, and a pipeline of experiments-to-production initiatives.
  • Establishes AI governance and controls in partnership with Risk/Compliance (e.g., model approval processes, human-in-the-loop decisioning, auditability, data privacy, bias testing, and vendor/model risk management) appropriate for insurance claims.
  • Leads delivery and adoption of automation solutions (workflow, rules, and RPA where appropriate), defining success metrics (cycle time, touchless rate, leakage, and customer/adjuster experience), monitoring model/process performance, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Help establish and communicate the Corporate Claims vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Influences key stakeholders to create solutions that enable productivity improvements
  • Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management.
  • Coordinates efforts to guarantee that the team achieves budgetary and performance objectives.
  • Ensures that department or functional area meets policies and procedures.
  • Aligns business unit with business objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
