About The Position

Location: This position is shared between Waukee High School and Northwest High School Position Criteria: Valid Iowa Teaching License, required 5-12 Business required 5-12 Computer Science required Performance Criteria: Willingness to create simultaneous changes in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and reporting practices in a standards-based environment. Understanding of the developmental nature of the high school learner and demonstrated ability to support growth of the whole child in a positive manner. Understanding of authentic learning and engagement, including Iowa Core’s Universal Constructs. Demonstrated flexibility, high levels of motivation and enthusiasm when working with high school learners. Facilitate student-driven learning by playing the role of a learning coach and manager, not a dispenser of knowledge. Facilitate inquiry-based learning through ‘authentic pedagogy’ like professional-based learning and learning by design. Ability to deal with ambiguity in all areas, reserve judgment, and maintain an open mind (i.e. the curriculum is never completed, always changing) in a fast-paced environment. Work with the high school counseling department and content areas to ensure student transitions are seamless. Develop and utilize formative and summative authentic assessments, including use of standards-based assessment and reporting. Involve parents and communities in supporting student learning. Provide ongoing communication with families and the community. Engage in ongoing professional learning. Act as a liaison to communicate and support other colleagues in the K-12 system to promote relevant and authentic learning. Requirements

  • Valid Iowa Teaching License
  • 5-12 Business required
  • 5-12 Computer Science required
