The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is searching for talented individuals to join our team as a Business Taxes Representative (BTR) to work in the Customer Service Center (CSC). The CSC responds to over 654,000 calls, 34,000 chats, and 17,000 e-mails per year, providing customers and taxpayers with information on more than 40 CDTFA tax and fee programs. The BTR learns all phases of tax compliance, licensing, and law, rule, and regulation administration. The incumbent provides advisory services to department staff, the public, and taxpayers concerning the various tax programs administered by the CDTFA. The BTR will provide technical advice in writing and verbally to employees and taxpayers concerning the programs administered by the CDTFA. The incumbent is responsible for training new and existing Customer Service Representatives and reviewing their completed assignments for accuracy to ensure compliance with sales and use tax laws, rules, and guidelines provided by the CDTFA. In addition, the BTR responds to questions concerning online services or other account-specific questions and prepares written responses to the public or other government agencies via telephone, e-mail, Live Chat, or other means.
