About The Position

Our Passthrough Transaction Economics Group (PTEG) specializes in the analysis of structured financial transactions covering a variety of industries. Drawing on our academic background in economics and finance, as well as our substantial industry experience, we work closely with our clients and other groups at EY, including M&A, Capital Markets, Partnerships/Joint Ventures and International Tax. As part of this group, you'll utilize a wide range of financial and economic modeling techniques, including cash flow modeling, derivatives pricing, term structure modeling, statistical analyses, debt-equity analyses, risk-return analytics and risk management techniques.

Requirements

  • Chartered Financial Analyst® from the CFS Institute, or Master’s degree or PhD in taxation, economics, statistics, public policy, mathematics, business, finance, financial engineering, management science and engineering, financial mathematics, industrial engineering, or operations research.
  • Achieved at least a bachelor's degree, typically with a concentration in Economics, Finance, Operations Research, Financial Engineering or Statistics.
  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization.
  • Flexible, willing to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
  • Proficient with MS Office, including MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
  • Willing and able to learn, work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated writing, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective organization and time management skills, ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Programming skills (VB and/or Matlab), familiarity with other financial software packages.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg data terminals and other market research tools.
  • Exposure to fixed income analytics and option pricing models.

Responsibilities

  • Working in small groups on projects with internal or external clients.
  • Drafting formal deliverables and developing customized financial models.
  • Researching business and capital markets trends and presenting findings.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial models and tools for various financial transactions.
  • Applying principles of corporate finance to assess economic implications of deal structures.
  • Preparing reports and client presentations.
  • Working at all levels of transaction structuring and execution.
  • Compiling documentation related to each analysis.
  • Managing, coaching and developing a team of tax professionals.

  • Base salary range for New York City Metro Area is $170,300 to $295,500.
