About The Position

As a Business Systems Engineering Intern, you will get hands-on experience building tools that help power BambooHR’s internal business operations. A "day in the life" will involve a dynamic mix of developing custom applications using TypeScript and JavaScript, maintaining workflows via Make, and managing data integrations with Salesforce and Databricks. You will gain hands-on experience navigating Linux environments, managing version control with Git, and troubleshooting RESTful APIs. Additionally, you will be an active participant in researching and implementing AI technologies to streamline development and internal deliverables. You will not just be fixing bugs; you will be an active participant in implementing AI technologies to streamline our development process and improve our internal deliverables. This is a unique opportunity to see how modern engineering teams balance custom code, low-code automation, and cloud infrastructure to solve real business problems.

Requirements

  • Currently a Junior pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Academic or personal project experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Working knowledge of Linux CLI environments (filesystem navigation, basic commands).
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs (how to execute and troubleshoot API calls).
  • Familiarity with Git operations (branching, committing, merging).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (ability to break down complex logic).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (comfortable working with a remote team).
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly (specifically low-code platforms like Make).
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of business process automations using Make, integrating various third-party tools.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design, code, and test internal applications using TypeScript and JavaScript.
  • AI Innovation: Research and prototype ways to incorporate AI technologies into our coding workflows and business applications.
  • Support cloud infrastructure tasks to ensure the reliability of apps used by other internal teams.
  • Utilize Git for version control, including branching, committing, and merging code in a team environment.
  • Navigate and execute commands within a Linux CLI environment to support application deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Construct and troubleshoot RESTful API calls to connect disparate systems.
  • Assist with database queries and data management using MySQL and Databricks.
