Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • 2 to 4 years as IT Business Analyst or related experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Data Flow or Use Case Modeling
  • Process Modeling

Responsibilities

  • Provides some subject matter expertise for business customers and technical resources.
  • Establishes awareness of business process and technology solution best practices within a specific business segment
  • Prepares business requirements from which applications can be developed or modified with guidance from more Sr. BA
  • Participates in engaging with the business customers on business processes and practices associated with the IT systems that implement, support or enable those processes and practices
  • Participate in collection and analysis of data and information from business users to understand how systems can solve business problems and identifies opportunities for process improvement
  • Participates in collecting and analyzing possible project engagements, documenting project scope (objectives, deliverables, critical success factors, assumptions, global and regional considerations, and resource requirements), prioritization, cost/benefit, potential risks, and feasibility
  • Participates in the definition of work and project scope, objectives and business requirements and performs research for selection of potential solutions
  • Participates in the production and review (from content to final draft) of user guides, training classes, and other end-user documentation for applications and processes
  • Activities include development of functional test scripts.
  • Understands how to represent business processes, engaging customers appropriately in testing activities
  • Ensures traceability of requirements, translation of business and system requirements into functional and technical specifications.
  • Alerts team leadership when traceability appears weak or is lost.
  • Participates in impact analysis when changes to the requirements occur
  • Forges a network of beneficial relationships with all levels within IT organizations and the customers of IT in order to establish mutual trust and provide a foundation for high level project partnership.
  • Initiates and develops working relationships with internal groups
  • Receives, solicits, and interprets information and facilitates communication at appropriate levels between IT and its customers by engaging in the preparation of documentation and presentations and participating in meetings
  • Demonstrates fundamental skills of facilitation, influence, negotiation, mediation in discussions in order to achieve business goals and objectives
  • Acquires fundamental skills for managing conflict to move discussions about tradeoffs towards resolution and decision
  • Understands key business objectives and processes of IT’s customer, specifically how those objectives relate to the business’ problems and needs, their tools and systems
  • Understands “customer context”, which consists of business processes and IT infrastructure and tools which support customer needs
  • Participates in activities designed to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Participates in ensuring JSOX and other compliance standards are met, and development of controls
  • Interact with third parties including application service providers and partners
  • Provide some subject matter (super user) expertise for business software application functionality within a specific business segment
