About The Position

The API Business Systems Analyst plays a critical role in bridging business needs with technical API solutions across customer and supplier ecosystems. This role focuses on defining, delivering, and optimizing APIs that support the Americas organization (including but not limited to procurement, quoting, and supplier data integration).

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and application of principles, theories and concepts. Complete knowledge of all job functions and the broad industry best practices, techniques and standards.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems where analysis of situations and/or data requires in-depth evaluation of variables. Determine best approach to achieve results and provide suggestions to improve policies and procedures.
  • Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Work may be reviewed at a high-level.
  • May represent the organization as a primary contact on assignments and/or projects. Interacts with senior professionals and management and frequently coordinates work between departments or organizations.
  • Actions may impact the organization. Failure to accomplish work will result in the inability to reach crucial organizational goals. Erroneous decisions may have a prolonged effect resulting in the expenditure of substantial resources.
  • Typically 5+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and OAuth2.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), quoting and procurement workflows.
  • Proficiency in tools like Postman and Swagger.
  • Experience in electronic components distribution or supply chain systems.
  • Knowledge of business process mapping.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document API use cases and business requirements.
  • Define functional and non-functional specifications for customer-facing and supplier-facing APIs.
  • Assess operational impact, implementation viability, and system alignment.
  • Work closely with developers and other business system analyst to shape API payloads and workflows.
  • Validate API designs to ensure alignment with core business processes such as quoting, order placement, backlog management, and other supported workflows.
  • Act as a liaison between regional and global business teams, IT teams, and external partners.
  • Translate business and partner needs into business and functional requirement specifications.
  • Present API capabilities, delivery plans, and performance metrics to internal audiences.
  • Define test cases and acceptance criteria for API functionality.
  • Coordinate and execute System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate API functionality, ensure alignment with business requirements, and support production readiness.
  • Ensure data accuracy, performance, and error handling meets business expectations.
  • Develop and maintain API documentation, user guides, and onboarding kits.
  • Lead joint initiatives to document and align business processes through structured mapping sessions.
  • Support knowledge base creation and ongoing API education.
  • Support delivery of APIs, including pilot programs and full deployment.
  • Collaborate with Organizational Change Management (OCM) to effectively communicate API changes and enhancements impacting business processes and users.
  • Collaborate with internal business and development teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor API usage, performance metrics, and user feedback to support continuous improvement, optimize adoption, and ensure visibility into business impact through structured reporting to stakeholders.
  • Define requirements for dashboards and reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization and API enhancements.
