About The Position

As a BSC Engineer at 3M, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career. You will make an impact by maintaining awareness of customer needs and industry trends and translating those into measurable specifications and test methods for product development and manufacturing. You will also provide manufacturing leadership and support for the local and global manufacturing of the division's products, driving process development, recommending new equipment and modifications to support cost improvements and new product introductions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Two (2) years of combined experience in a manufacturing role and/or product/process development in a private, public, government or military environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on adhesive coating experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience utilizing statistical tools in problem solving.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum three (3) years on new product development and commercialization teams.
  • Minimum three (3) years on quality improvement and cost reduction projects.
  • Experience with unit cost modeling.
  • Experience leading or participating on cross functional teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Multilingual ability in Chinese and/or Korean.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain awareness of customer needs and industry trends and translate those into measurable specifications and test methods for product development and manufacturing.
  • Provide manufacturing leadership and support for the local and global manufacturing of the division's products.
  • Drive process development, recommend new equipment and modifications to support cost improvements and new product introductions.
  • Drive manufacturing cost and product yield improvement projects.
  • Lead local and global management of change projects focused on communication, risk evaluation and execution of process and product changes.
  • Support local and global manufacturing teams on rapid resolution of customer complaints, including timely response, communication and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support successful NPI scale up and launch of new DMSD products.
  • Lead and support quality improvement projects in end to end supply chain.
  • Use Lean, Six Sigma and Value stream tools to drive improvements.
  • Perform capability assessments and cost estimates for new opportunities.
