About The Position

Are you a self-starter who thrives on the thrill of the hunt? Do you enjoy getting out into the field, talking to business owners, and turning cold leads into lasting partnerships? IdeaTek is looking for a Business Sales Executive to join the business sales team to generate new business through outbound sales. This is a high-impact role focused on prospecting, relationship-building, and creating custom solutions for Kansas businesses. You’ll work closely with our internal teams, adapt to shifting goals, and own your pipeline from first contact to close. In this role, you won’t wait for leads—you’ll go find them. From walking into a business to calling a prospect cold, you’ll actively build your territory while representing IdeaTek with professionalism and confidence. Location: This role is based in Northeast Kansas—ideal candidates will live in or near Emporia or Topeka. A Day in the Life Your day starts with planning your route—then you’re out knocking on doors, introducing yourself to business owners, and booking follow-up meetings. You might check in on a lead from earlier in the week, log updates in the CRM, or chat with a teammate about new territory goals. Whether you're following a promising lead or turning a cold prospect into a real opportunity, your focus is always on building trust and closing deals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional sales experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills—professional, clear, and confident
  • Highly motivated, self-managed, and results-driven
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions and clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel across a large territory in Northeast Kansas

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with sales in the telecom industry
  • Proven ability to build relationships through cold outreach
  • Familiarity with CRMs and pipeline tracking
  • Comfortable working independently in a hybrid/field-based role
  • Strong understanding of business internet, voice, or infrastructure services

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and self-generate leads through cold calling, drop-ins, and creative outreach
  • Meet with business owners and decision-makers in the field—80%+ of time will be outside the office
  • Understand customer needs and deliver tailored solutions based on our services
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing customers
  • Manage a consistent sales pipeline and follow up to maintain momentum
  • Use our CRM system to organize leads, track activity, and ensure effective follow-through
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure a smooth customer experience
  • Adapt to changing team structures and sales goals as IdeaTek continues to grow
  • Hit or exceed individual monthly sales targets
