Fairchild Media: Business Reporter, Sourcing Journal
About The Position
Under the umbrella of Fairchild Media Group that also includes sister brands WWD, Footwear News, and Beauty Inc, Sourcing Journal is the premiere trade publication for apparel and textile executives focused on sourcing and manufacturing. Sourcing Journal’s expert editorial team leads the industry conversation with smart investigative journalism, breaking news, analysis of global market conditions and industry white papers. Sourcing Journal is hiring a Business Reporter to focus heavily on daily news and analysis, in addition to occasional researched feature reporting. The ideal candidate will have a very solid grasp of journalism fundamentals, an ability to uncover, pitch and track compelling news stories, strong writing skills and a keen eye for detail. Must be a self-starter who is adaptable, versatile and agile. Must be extremely fluent in all aspects of digital media and have the ability to quickly learn, incorporate new skills and adapt to constructive feedback. Working with a range of other reporters, the candidate is expected to produce a reasonable volume of daily stories under deadline pressure. Industry knowledge of sourcing, apparel, footwear, sustainability, tech, retail or fashion is a plus. Position requires some travel and event coverage when necessary.
Requirements
- Experience writing and editing for digital media publications.
- B2B background strongly preferred.
- Ability to work quickly and cleanly, and report breaking news efficiently and accurately.
- Full grasp of online publishing from story creation, to sourcing art and publication.
- Proficiency in WordPress including gallery creation when appropriate.
