About The Position

As a Substitute, you will be responsible for supporting the overall objective of the course(s) being taught on an as-needed basis Advise students in a professional manner, offering constructive, encouraging, and timely feedback. Teach students in evening online classes (using Zoom) through lectures and discussions Conduct weekly "live" video lectures and/or discussion (using Canvas) Tutor students as necessary on campus and remotely Adhere to curriculum expectations, to ensure accreditation standards are met Assist with course design that meets or exceeds minimum content standards Encourage complex thinking, participation, and discussion by all students Proactively identify and address issues with course content or technology Provide timely grade postings and substantial feedback Prepare assigned course shell with updated information, web links, instructor bio, gradebook settings, etc. at least one week before the scheduled start of classes Send welcome email to students on your roster two days before the scheduled start of class Participate actively in online course discussions, ensuring that all students are participating and interacting with one another. Use this opportunity to shape discussion, call attention to other approaches, and answer specific questions raised by students Respond to written assignments with personalized comments Communicate suggested course improvements to the department head Maintain 90% or higher on course evaluations Maintain 88% or higher on quarterly student satisfaction surveys Maintain an 85% retention rate Model the CARES philosophy and core values with courage, teamwork, perseverance, and vision Complete a minimum of two professional developments and two in-services Attend meetings as required (Faculty Forum, Team/Department Meetings, etc - as requested) Participate in school sponsored activities (as requested) Attend Graduation ceremonies (when requested by department head supervisor) Other duties as assigned Effort and Commitment Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior Demonstrates eagerness to learn and assumes responsibility, seeks out and accepts increased responsibility; displays a "can do" approach to work. Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in a business-related environment and or subject material.
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 18 credit hours in either Marketing, Accounting, or Human Resources required.
  • Must be computer literate and extremely familiar with online technologies.
  • Online instructors must be accessible to students via email, phone, Canvas, and Zoom.
  • Instructors must be available during peak times including late evenings and weekends.
  • The average expected response time is three hours for student questions and requests; however, a 12-hour window will be allowed especially for late night and early morning hours.
  • The instructor will actively monitor and track individual student progress and provide mediation and direction as needed.
  • Must possess the following: Proven coaching and development skills, including demonstrated ability to support and teach
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills and organizational skills
  • Excellent presentation, public speaking, written and verbal communication skills, creativity and initiative
  • Resilience, resourcefulness and enthusiasm
  • Ability to model the CARES philosophy and core values with courage, teamwork, perseverance, and vision
  • Instructors are required to provide their own hardware (PC or Mac Computer), software, and Internet service when working remotely
  • Maintain exclusivity to Community HigherEd (see Moonlighting policy - substitute employees may not work for another school while employed with the organization without prior approval)

  • Teaching/online teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in adult education, development and program administration a plus
