About The Position

The Business Program Manager, ECS Communities role on the Sustainable and Connected Communities (SCC) team within the Energy, Connectivity, and Sustainability (ECS) organization plays a pivotal role in advancing Microsoft’s mission to empower communities through technology and sustainability. SCC operates at the intersection of digital connectivity and environmental stewardship, driving initiatives that deliver internet access, clean energy, and water solutions to underserved regions worldwide. Anchored in a people-first, hyper-local strategy, the team partners with governments, NGOs, and private sector organizations to co-design scalable solutions that foster digital inclusion, climate resilience, and economic opportunity. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 6+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
  • OR equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis on connectivity and sustainability trends, community needs, and datacenter impact to shape program scope and strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to launch new initiatives or improve existing programs that integrate connectivity, energy, and water access for communities near datacenters.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Community Affairs, and external partners to design programs from initiation to delivery.
  • Define success metrics (OKRs, KPIs) for adoption, impact, and effectiveness, ensuring alignment with Microsoft’s sustainability goals.
  • Drive the Rhythm of Business (ROB) for SCC programs, ensuring timely communication and alignment across stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute landing plans and communication strategies tailored to diverse audiences, including local governments and NGOs.
  • Evangelize SCC programs internally and externally, leveraging data and storytelling to demonstrate impact and secure buy-in.
  • Manage a portfolio of complex projects, including datacenter community engagement initiatives, with clear timelines, milestones, and financial accountability.
  • Oversee ROB, budget planning, forecasting, and reporting to ensure resource optimization and transparency.
  • Implement governance frameworks and risk mitigation strategies for program delivery.
  • Lead business reviews and leverage dashboards to monitor program performance and ROI.
  • Use data analytics and scenario modeling to identify risks, optimize processes, and inform future program design.
  • Champion change management strategies to drive adoption of new initiatives and ensure stakeholder alignment.
