About The Position

9th Way Insignia is looking for an Architect, Senior (Business Process Engineering SME) to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Enterprise Acquisition Systems Support (EASS) program and the eCMS portfolio, providing business process engineering and architecture expertise to evaluate, reengineer, and improve mission-critical acquisition workflows. This role partners with VA stakeholders and delivery teams to define current and future state processes, develop clear process and architecture documentation, and translate business needs into actionable solution designs that improve efficiency, interoperability, and user outcomes in a regulated federal environment. The Architect, Senior position aligns as an E3 (Engineer 3) at 9th Way Insignia. An Engineer 3 is an experienced engineer/architect who works independently on complex assignments, applies advanced problem-solving to develop durable technical solutions, and contributes to technical direction through strong engineering judgment, clear documentation, and mentorship. This level is expected to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders, drive quality and consistency in engineering outputs, and consistently deliver high-impact results with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree)
  • Demonstrated business process engineering experience, including current-state assessment, future-state design, and process improvement/reengineering
  • Experience developing process models/diagrams and maintaining process documentation in support of system modernization and sustainment
  • Experience translating business processes and stakeholder needs into actionable requirements and solution design inputs for technical teams
  • Experience producing architecture and design documentation that supports implementation, integration, and operational sustainment
  • Strong stakeholder facilitation and communication skills, including leading workshops and presenting process/architecture outcomes clearly
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance at the Tier 2 (Moderate Risk) level (active preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related STEM field
  • Experience using BPMN-aligned tooling and standards to develop formal process models
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and disciplined architecture governance practices
  • Experience supporting VA or other federal programs in regulated delivery environments and documentation-driven governance

Responsibilities

  • Lead business process engineering efforts to assess current-state acquisition workflows, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and define improved future-state processes aligned to EASS program objectives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops to capture and validate process flows and requirements, develop and maintain detailed process models and supporting documentation, and translate business outcomes into actionable solution architecture inputs for delivery teams.
  • Support enterprise and solution architecture activities by producing and maintaining architecture and design artifacts that describe system components, data and integration flows, and operational impacts; developing and updating integration specifications and Interface Control Documents (ICDs); and ensuring architecture decisions, baselines, and changes are documented, traceable, and aligned to delivery cadence and release planning.
