The Business Process Architect will be the primary owner of the configurations and changes to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) application within the relevant modules. This pivotal role focuses on optimizing, configuring, and managing D365 to ensure it aligns with the organization's operations, reporting requirements, and compliance standards. The role will work closely with operational and department teams, IT, and external partners to ensure D365 delivers seamless solutions that drive operational efficiency, enhance business processes, and optimize the user experience. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role (e.g., Business Process Owner, Business Analyst, or System Architect) within a multinational organization.
  • Proven experience in ERP implementation, configuration, and optimization, particularly in financial systems and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience within the finance or accounting domain.
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting tools, and forecasting in an ERP environment.
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills, with the ability to manage system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude, with an ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in supporting the sales, customer service and support processes.
  • Strong hands-on experience with D365 FO & CE, including the full quote to cash process, especially in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of D365 Fo & CE modules, including sales, service, distribution and support.
  • Strong understanding of customer centricity and processes to support same day shipment.

Responsibilities

  • Own and Manage D365 Configuration - Ensure D365 configurations in relevant modules align with business needs
  • Liaison Between Stakeholders - Act as the primary liaison between finance stakeholders (including business process owners and subject matter experts) and the IT team, translating business requirements into actionable system configurations and enhancements.
  • Support Process Standardization - Work closely with operational teams globally to support the standardization of processes, ensuring both global requirements and local variations are accommodated effectively in the system.
  • Documentation and Configuration Management - Maintain thorough documentation for all configurations, system changes, and requirements to ensure clarity and compliance for audit purposes.
  • Change Management and Support - Lead change management activities for system updates, upgrades, and new features within the relevant modules, ensuring minimal disruption and effective user adoption.
  • Enhance Reporting and Compliance - Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure that D365 supports all reporting, auditing, and compliance requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement - Regularly assess system performance and suggest improvements, working closely with internal and external teams to optimize D365 for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Sales & Customer Service - Configuration alignment in Sales & Customer Service modules, Including quote to cash workflows, sales, service, distribution and customer support.
