About DDI: For nearly 65 years, DDI (Developmental Disabilities Institute) has been a leading agency providing a full spectrum of care for over 1,600 children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. The Role: Developmental Disabilities Institute's Business Operations Manager works within our Adult Day Services program to help unite the varied microbusinesses that we operate. The position will help solidify our efforts to providing vocational activities to the people we support, while enhancing our community presence.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift/move up to 20 lbs. (mats)
  • Must be able to kneel, twist and bend.
  • Must be able to respond to fire alarms.
  • Proactive in-store planning skills
  • Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of sales and marketing.
  • Ability to operate basic business software programs
  • Knowledge of business accounting principles and pricing research/comparison
  • Knowledge of data analysis and report writing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of all ADS micro-business activities and operations (including but not limited to Greenhouse products, gift baskets, art gallery products, 3D printing products, corporate swag)
  • Develop an overall business plan that captures and brings together all the microbusinesses that ADS operates under one brand and develop a physical storefront and online marketplace to promote sales.
  • Promoting the company’s existing brands and introducing new products to the market.
  • Researching and developing marketing opportunities and plans, understanding consumer requirements, identifying market trends, and suggesting system improvements to achieve the company’s marketing goals.
  • Collaborate with the agency’s Director of Communications and Government Relations for marketing and branding of Developmental Disabilities Institute store, maintaining and updating microbusiness websites and implementing creative and catchy new sales plans and advertising.
  • Interface with programs to identify pre-vocational business activities to support the micro-businesses in ADS and collaborate with program administrators to develop training programs for the people we support.
  • Provide analytics on all business activities to identify sales and forecast future opportunities and have the ability to collect and analyze key performance indicators of the business.
  • Manage online-based businesses, including the day-to-day management of projects, operations and metrics.
  • Coordinate the planning of art gallery events, i.e. themed exhibits, community paint events, opening/closing receptions
  • Supervise, train and assist trainees/employees like Sales Representatives and Retail Store Clerks in customer service, store maintenance and product promotions.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule for trainees/employees and promotions centered on holiday sales and other cycles.
  • Seek ways to better promote the art gallery, store, product lines and service within the store.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels, ensure stocking, implement purchasing plans and maintain contact with suppliers to ensure maximum efficiency in meeting sales goals.
  • Implement cross-training of trainees/employees to maintain productivity at all times.
  • Manage all controllable costs with a view to maintaining profitability.
  • Ensure the gallery and store remain clean and presentable at all times.
  • Hire and train as needed to ensure adequate personnel are on hand to provide outstanding customer service.
