Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) Responsible for providing analytical and complex administrative support to one or more functional areas. May be responsible for interacting with external third parties: State & Federal regulatory agencies, law firms, consultants. Acts as a liaison on assigned projects and/or issues. Perform research on laws, regulations, historical information and Calpine policies. Run reports to analyze data and report variances to senior management. Gather, organize and evaluate legal documentation. Ability to interpret and locate legal descriptions. May prepare draft land or access agreements, leases, easements, rights-of-way, bills of sale, photo use agreements. Keeps abreast of economic and industry trends and provides market research and analytical support for development and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business, Finance or in other related discipline if supported by a strong background
  • Requires 3+ years' experience in related field, with Power Plant experience preferred.
  • Critical thinking, financial and data analysis skills with a high proficiency in MS Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and analyzes Business data for the Plant; conducts special studies and maintains abreast of industry trends.
  • Has a solid, working knowledge of Plant Operations, Finance, Legal and other areas related to the Power Industry
  • Experienced professional with full understanding of job, company and industry practices.
  • Performs in fully-functioning capacity, equivalent to a journey level contributor.
  • Makes decisions regarding own work, often in ambiguous situations; makes recommendations regarding own function/discipline.
  • Solves operational problems and associated technical issues; modifies existing tools, techniques or processes.
  • Functions with minimum guidance and under pre-set procedures with attention to detail.
  • Works on problems of moderate complexity.
  • Uses independent judgment within defined policies and practices.
  • Interprets guidelines, select methods, techniques and analytical approach
  • Little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
  • May be designated project or subject matter expert for an ongoing process or short-term project within own department.
  • Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instruction and reporting results.
