About The Position

The State of Montana Department of Administration is seeking an Operations Analyst to join the General Services Division (GSD) central operations team. This position involves anticipating the relationship between demand, staffing, and service level, developing controlled processes to reduce errors, and utilizing data analytics to inform business decisions. The Operations Analyst will engage with division leadership to provide operational oversight for resource forecasting and process optimization. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and professional, supporting the visibility of emerging issues and long-term business solutions within the division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Two years of applicable experience.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Understanding of business science techniques and strategic planning.
  • Basic principles of risk management.

  • Experience in public administration or government operations.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engages in strategic planning, content management, and client success management.
  • Develops policy and procedures, and administers GSD policy database.
  • Manages asset management including central fleet oversight and general asset analysis.
  • Works with GSD business units to develop standard operating procedures, documenting workflow and process steps.
  • Manages projects, initiatives, proposals, business campaigns, and presentations.
  • Liaises with business and technical experts to determine project requirements and develop solutions.
  • Ensures initiatives align with department and division goals.
  • Defines and builds new business operations processes to optimize efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Responsible for risk management and control, including ongoing risk identification and documentation.
  • Supports the development of safety and emergency response plans.
  • Ensures compliance with approved operating policies, procedures, practices, and methods.
  • Solicits feedback from stakeholders to ensure consistency and relevance of services.
  • Oversees vendors to ensure contract performance standards are met.
