About The Position

This position is Exempt from the Human Resources Act (EHRA) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with applicable State Benefits. The position assists management with all accounting and budgeting functions. This position, in collaboration with the Business Officer II, is responsible for ensuring all financial activities related to water infrastructure funding are conducted efficiently and in accordance with the generally accepted accounting principles, various compliance supplements, applicable federal rules, state policies, etc. pertaining to grant and loan management and proper accounting. In addition, this position will collaborate with a range of internal teams and external agencies to meet critical deadlines and reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, ppublic administration, or a related discipline from an accredited instution and one year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with documents for grant applications.
  • Assists with tracking grant draws and participates in the active management of the grant to ensure grant funds are effectively used.
  • Responsible for requesting and validating funds in accordance with NC DEQ Account Code Standards for new grant awards.
  • Lead participation in EPA annual reviews for cash draws and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
  • Generate detailed financial reports.
  • Assists with developing annual budgets.
