Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Expertise: A strong understanding of skilled nursing billing, payment systems, and Medi-Cal/Medicaid processes.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing business office is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills.
  • Soft Skills: Must be a tactful communicator with the ability to lead a team and solve practical problems effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Authorizations & Billing: Obtain and manage authorizations for Managed Care, Medi-Cal, and Medicaid, including critical bedhold tracking.
  • Financial Oversight: Participate in the billing and payment process, prepare bank deposits, and manage resident trust funds (including monthly statements).
  • Application Support: Assist families and residents with Medi-Cal/Medicaid applications and track redeterminations to ensure continuous coverage.
  • Revenue Cycle Management: Prepare Treatment Authorization Requests (TARs) as needed and undertake active collection activities for bad debt.
  • Census & Reporting: Maintain accurate facility census records and report status changes to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor business office staff, including scheduling, assigning tasks, and managing performance.
  • Administrative Support: Attend daily stand-up meetings at the request of the Administrator and ensure all office operational requirements are met.
