Specialty Orthopedic Group’s Surgery Center is currently seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Business Office Associate to join our team in Oxford, MS. This role is essential to our daily operations, serving as the first point of contact for patients and ensuring the business office runs smoothly from the moment the doors open each morning. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in reliability, thrives in a structured environment, and delivers exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. JOB SUMMARY As the first point of contact for our surgery center, the Business Office Associate will play a multifocal role in ensuring a seamless experience for our patients and staff. This position is ideal for a disciplined professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in being the "face" of the office.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior customer service experience required; healthcare experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • General office skills, including typing (35–40 WPM)
  • Basic computer proficiency (Windows-based systems)
  • Exceptional dependability and punctuality—this role is critical to opening daily operations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Professional, friendly, and efficient communication style
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Commitment to patient privacy and HIPAA compliance

Responsibilities

  • Open the surgery center each morning and prepare the business office for daily operations
  • Greet and assist patients and visitors with professionalism and warmth
  • Accurately register patients and verify demographic and insurance information
  • Create and maintain patient records in the system
  • Prepare charts and documentation for clinical staff
  • Scan, review, and maintain accuracy of medical records
  • Monitor chart completion and follow up on outstanding documentation
  • Assemble surgical packets for physician offices
  • Collect patient payments and maintain accurate records
  • Ensure all necessary forms and supplies are stocked and organized
