About The Position

The Business Office Associate (Floating) provides front-end and/or back-end revenue cycle support across multiple departments or clinic locations as needed. This role ensures accurate patient registration, insurance verification, charge capture review and entry, assists in revenue cycle flow, and provides financial counseling while maintaining excellent customer service. The associate must be adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to quickly learn workflows in different healthcare settings. 72-80 Hours Biweekly

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1–3 years of healthcare front office, billing, or revenue cycle experience
  • Knowledge of insurance types (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial)
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Proficiency with EMR/PMS systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Expanse, RevSpring)
  • Strong data entry and cash handling accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or related field
  • Experience in multi-site or floating roles
  • Knowledge of prior authorizations and referrals

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient registration and demographic verification
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances
  • Obtain required authorizations and referrals
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments
  • Provide financial counseling and payment plan options
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
  • Post charges and/or payments as assigned
  • Assist with claim edits and basic billing follow-up
  • Review accounts for accuracy and completeness
  • Support denial work queues when needed
  • Process medical record requests and forms
  • Maintain worklists and productivity standards
  • Provide coverage at multiple areas (financial services & registration) locations
  • Cross-train in various business office functions
  • Adapt quickly to different EMR/PMS workflows
  • Support staffing shortages, PTO coverage, or high-volume areas
  • Greet patients and visitors professionally
  • Resolve patient concerns or escalate appropriately
  • Communicate clearly with clinical staff and providers
  • Maintain a positive patient experience across all sites
