About The Position

The Business Occupations Teacher at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) Mahanoy is responsible for developing and delivering educational programs in specialized business occupations for inmates. Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in business, education, business education, or a related field with successful completion of student teaching or a teaching practicum in a business-related subject.
• One year of classroom instruction experience in a business-related subject is acceptable in lieu of the degree requirement.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must meet the PA residency requirement and be able to perform essential job functions.
• Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and adapt curriculum, course outlines, lesson plans, and instructional methodology for business education courses.
• Provide organized individual and group instruction to inmates, focusing on both theory and practical job skills training.
• Diagnose and evaluate inmate potential, achievement, and progress through standardized and teacher-constructed tests.
• Grade inmate progress in both theoretical knowledge and occupational competency.
• Monitor inmate behavior to ensure an effective learning environment while maintaining security of instructional materials.
• Complete records, reports, and forms related to class operations and inmate performance evaluation.
