About The Position

The Business Manager at Haverhill Public Schools will lead and coordinate all financial aspects of the district, including budget management, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, contracts, and purchasing. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Significant executive managerial experience in financial services within a school district.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret business regulations and write reports and manuals.
  • Strong analytical, computer, and communication skills for data management and decision-making.
  • Thorough knowledge of finance, budgeting, and employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, management, and human relations skills.
  • Maintains appropriate Massachusetts educator licensure as a Business Manager.

  • Experience in public construction and municipal finance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development of the annual budget and provide training to administrators.
  • Achieve financial sustainability goals and budget results as established by the School Committee.
  • Provide business services to support instructional activities.
  • Establish and supervise accounting and reporting for the district's financial affairs.
  • Serve as fiscal agent for state and federal grants, reviewing and approving applications.
  • Prepare financial reports in compliance with audit procedures and implement audit suggestions.
  • Monitor special revenue funds and establish record-keeping procedures.
  • Coordinate insurance and risk management strategies.
  • Prepare end-of-year financial reports and monitor federal and state accounts.
  • Supervise all accounting operations and establish a budget control system.
  • Oversee student activity and revolving accounts, and manage payroll processing.
  • Provide oversight for school construction projects and food service operations.
  • Participate in professional meetings and monitor legislative changes affecting school finances.
