About The Position

As a Business Analysis Manager at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges, working with world-class professionals to develop and test strategies that impact the bottom line in a collaborative environment. This role is within Global External Affairs, which aims to create socioeconomic opportunity through advocating for an inclusive society, building thriving communities, and creating financial tools that enrich lives. The Community Finance (CF) team is a leading provider of affordable housing financing, having provided over $17 billion in debt and equity financing for affordable housing, resulting in more than 160,000 affordable housing units. Community Finance is evolving its operations through a strategic approach, next-generation analytical and reporting capabilities, and innovation. The Strategy & Impact (S&I) team within Community Finance drives analysis and strategic thinking on key initiatives, including framing and analyzing complex problems, assessing current state, designing target state solutions, developing actionable recommendations, and supporting initial implementation. The S&I team is seeking a Manager, Business Analysis to conduct analyses that identify, evaluate, and synthesize strategic opportunities for Community Finance. These analyses will cover market insights (industry, macroeconomic, competitive, and community needs), impact assessments of CF’s work, and evaluations of innovations and strategic opportunities, all aimed at driving an actionable CF strategy. This position offers the opportunity to guide the CF team towards its vision of building inclusive, thriving, resident-centered communities and enabling Capital One to further its mission to change banking for good.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration, with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in analysis
  • 2+ years of experience in financial services

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis to help identify, evaluate, and synthesize strategic opportunities for Community Finance
  • Perform analyses responsive to business needs, including market insights (industry trends, macroeconomic trends, competitive landscaping, and resident & community needs)
  • Conduct impact assessments of Community Finance’s work
  • Evaluate innovations and strategic opportunities
  • Synthesize insights to drive an actionable Community Finance strategy
  • Structure and execute analyses to drive actionable insights
  • Develop an end-to-end understanding of both existing and potential Community Finance products and offerings, and how they fit into the larger ecosystem
  • Anticipate impacts from changes internal and external to Community Finance and Capital One
  • Work closely with team members across Community Finance, Global External Affairs, and the Enterprise to understand the tradeoffs of decisions
  • Synthesize insights into actionable strategies to define priorities and drive success for Community Finance and Capital One
  • Leverage written and oral communication credentials to build compelling stories and drive alignment around insights and recommendations surfaced
  • Display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals, and effectively execute an agenda in a fluid environment
  • Work closely with colleagues across Capital One for both input on insights, and to drive alignment in approaches across the organization
