About The Position

The Business Manager for the Northeast District of UGA Extension is a pivotal role based on the main UGA Campus in Athens, GA. This position is responsible for the fiscal management of the Northeast District's operations, which includes budget planning for both UGA and County funds, accounting, and human resources administration and oversight. The Business Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy, utilizing independent judgment and a strong understanding of fiscal and administrative requirements to ensure effective County Extension operations. As the sole fiscal resource for the assigned geographic District, the Business Manager provides essential support to County Extension Coordinators, the Associate Dean for Extension, and the CAES Business Office. In this role, the Business Manager will manage all financial activities of the Extension District, which encompasses assisting in the development of budgets, preparing Pending Awards, managing position allocations, and overseeing purchasing approvals. The position also involves developing monthly and annual financial statements, managing county contracts across 40 counties, and ensuring compliance with UGA accounting processes. The Business Manager will be responsible for resolving budget issues, activating salary increases, and reviewing financial reports to ensure adherence to county operations fund policies. Additionally, the Business Manager will handle human resource administration, processing personnel actions for all District employees, overseeing time records, leave requests, and ensuring payroll accuracy. This role also includes preparing regular and ad hoc reports for various stakeholders, developing workflows related to new technology implementation, and supervising the District Office Administrative Assistant/Associate. The Business Manager will maintain positive professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating competency in financial affairs and understanding the strategic role of Extension in county operations.
