About The Position

The Mortgage Business Intelligence & Analytics team oversees all activities and functions involved with the company’s Business Intelligence platform, giving mortgage company business leaders access to reliable, actionable data to better manage and understand the business and drive company growth. We are seeking a Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst to focus on the development of our Power BI reporting environment. The Reporting Analyst will be responsible for creating impactful dashboards and reports which deliver meaningful data to our business leaders in order to achieve organizational goals. This role will do more than compile tabular data; this role will have an opportunity to use data to tell a story, and help our team, as well as business leaders, derive meaningful insights. The Reporting Analyst will also be responsible for managing highly visible reporting such as recurring executive reports and regulatory reporting. The right candidate will have a strong background with Power BI. They will be detail oriented, with the ability to infer business needs and develop reporting solutions using data visualization best practices including leveraging Gestalt principles, Storytelling with Data, and visualization selection principals. They will proactively run data quality checks to ensure the integrity of the information being delivered. Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn, becoming a subject matter expert to coincide with technical fluency. Stays abreast of the latest Power BI features and identifies the right opportunities for implementation.

Requirements

3+ years’ experience in a data or business intelligence focused role
3+ years creating BI dashboards and reports with a focus on data visualization and storytelling with a high proficiency using Power BI
3+ years writing SQL queries for data mining
3+ years’ experience collecting and documenting business requirements
Intermediate proficiency with Power BI:
Understand how to navigate semantic models
Understand/create dynamic measures using DAX
Power Query for data sourcing/transformation
Row-level security implementation
Calculation groups
Data visualization
Intermediate level proficiency with SQL (T-SQL):
Standard select queries
Joins across multivariate datasets including multiple keys
Data normalization
Window functions and methods
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

Report Development (50%)
Build effective and efficient reports and dashboards using best practices in data presentation and design language
Migrate existing reporting inventory to a centralized semantic model
Automate/streamline manual processes
Regulatory Reporting (20%)
Ongoing monitoring of exceptions, including engagement with business partners to resolve data discrepancies
Collection and curation of data points from business partners
Execution of regulatory data preparation processes
Documented validation of datasets against system of record
Semantic Model Maintenance (10%)
Update semantic models to support new reporting needs
Monitor model efficiency and implement changes as needed to optimize performance
Report Maintenance (10%)
Make minor changes and updates to existing reports as needed
Documentation (5%)
Document report development processes for business contingency purposes
Maintain semantic model documentation, including data sources and table relationships
Maintain an index of all active reports, including data lineage, purpose, and audience
Maintain reporting changelog
Team Support & Other Duties (5%)
Provide backfill support for ongoing team work as needed

Vacation — Vacation hours accrue on a per pay period basis. Balance maximums are based on years of service.
