About The Position

The Business Intelligence Manager will lead and manage the ocean department, overseeing all import/export activities while ensuring compliance with operational processes and maintaining high levels of customer service. This role requires effective coordination between various branches, clients, and vendors, with a focus on financial efficiency and profitability of ocean freight operations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in freight forwarding management or related logistics/supply chain roles.
  • Strong understanding of ocean freight operations, including import/export processes, shipment scheduling, and compliance.
  • Familiarity with TSA/CBP/IAC regulations.
  • DG (Dangerous Goods) certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Cargowise is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual in Chinese and English is required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ocean department to ensure operational compliance with company policies and industry standards for ocean, rail, and transloading shipments.
  • Train and coach team members to provide exceptional customer service tailored to the client's operational needs.
  • Delegate tasks and assignments to team members to cover other team members when needed.
  • Track all logistics activities for ocean imports/exports, rail, and land transloading shipments to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Collaborate with overseas branches and other U.S. locations to ensure smooth operations across all regions.
  • Communicate directly with clients, freight forwarders, and custom brokers to obtain necessary information for customs formalities.
  • Visit clients regularly to assess their operational needs and work closely with the sales team to develop solutions.
  • Monitor the Profit and Loss (P&L) of the ocean department, ensuring compliance with invoicing SOPs.
  • Oversee invoicing processes to ensure timely billing and payments from clients, and comply with financial procedures.
  • Review and audit bills and invoices from manufacturers, truckers, and shipping lines for accuracy.
  • Provide regular feedback and guidance to team members, ensuring continuous improvement in performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in the creation and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve operational efficiency within the air freight department.
