About The Position

The Business Intelligence Intern at 84 Lumber Company will support the business intelligence needs of teams at both headquarters and in the field. The intern will engage in activities such as identifying new data needs, documenting business requirements, designing data, testing, and creating training materials to assist end users. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data visualization and analytics within the builder supply and construction industry.

Requirements

• Interest in learning about builder supply & construction industry and company business practices
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, deductive reasoning and critical thinking skills
• A willingness to learn new technology to solve business problems
• Strong attention to detail with emphasis on both quality and speed
• Ability to communicate to project team, business partners and senior management with the appropriate information at each level
• Interest in data visualization, advanced analytics, and finding innovative solutions to complex business questions
• A curious self-starter who can figure out the next step and take the initiative to execute when appropriate
• Proficiency with enterprise Business Intelligence tools (MicroStrategy, etc.)
• Understanding of SQL, databases, and data models

• Pursuing BA/BS in business, data analytics or related field

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with users to deliver analytical visualizations to allow end users to spend more time on strategic activities
• Gain deep knowledge of the day-to-day activities that help achieve high customer satisfaction and translate those activities into measurable performance visuals
• Develop MicroStrategy dashboards based on customer Key Performance Indicators
• Develop and deliver effective data stories through high-impact data visualizations
• Partner with other team members as well as cross-functional partners to support business processes and system solutions
• Interpret business requirements; design, build and test reports and dashboards to ensure a high level of data quality
• Provide status updates of work progress to project team and management
• Develop a good working relationship with a wide range of stakeholders to design end-to-end experiences
