Business Intelligence Intern
About The Position
The Business Intelligence internship (10 to 12 weeks) is designed to provide hands on experience in healthcare analytics while building foundational skills in data management, reporting tools, and stakeholder support. Reports to: Chief Quality and Strategy Officer Supervises: N/A Dress Requirement: Business casual in accordance with Heart of Ohio Family Health dress code policy Work Schedule: This is a part time position consisting of up to 24 hours per week during the standard business hours of Monday to Friday. Times are subject to change due to business necessity NonExempt
Requirements
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree program related to data analytics, information systems, healthcare administration, computer science, or a related field.
- Interest in healthcare data, reporting, and analytics.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft tools such as Excel and Power BI, or a willingness to learn
- Introductory understanding of databases, SQL concepts, or data structures is preferred but not required.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
- Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and healthcare reporting concepts.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also completing assigned tasks independently with guidance.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to communicate (orally and in written) in a professional manner
- Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team setting
- Ability to maintain an established work schedule to ensure dependability, accuracy of work quality, and a harmonious, consistent work environment
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Population Health Management tools is preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with collecting and organizing data from various internal systems, including financial, operational, pharmacy, and clinical data sources
- Support the maintenance of reports and dashboards in alignment with established data standards
- Help format data and reports to improve clarity, usability, and visual presentation.
- Participate in basic data analysis activities to identify trends, patterns, and potential improvement opportunities.
- Assist senior analysts with documentation, testing, and validation of reports and data outputs.
- Observe and support presentations of data findings to leadership, management, and staff as part of the learning experience.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support team operations and learning objectives
