Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer
About The Position
We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented BI Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of analytics dashboards and data-input web applications. This role will own our Tableau environment and transform complex data into intuitive, actionable dashboards that support strategic decision-making. The position will also support front-end development for web-based data input and embedded analytics. A key component of this role is leveraging AI tools—such as Claude.ai and other generative AI platforms—to accelerate development and deliver production-ready solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Tableau development experience.
- Advanced skills in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Cloud, including LOD expressions, calculated fields, parameters, and performance optimization.
- Strong SQL and data modeling knowledge (facts, dimensions, star schema).
- Experience using AI tools in a development workflow.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for embedded analytics or data input interfaces.
- Experience with Git/GitHub version control.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Certifications such as Tableau Certified Data Analyst or Tableau Desktop Specialist.
- Experience with Tableau REST API or Tabcmd for deployment automation.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain interactive, scalable dashboards using Tableau.
- Use AI tools (e.g., Claude.ai, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate development of embedded analytics and front-end features.
- Apply strong data visualization and UX practices to create clear, actionable dashboards.
- Write and optimize SQL queries using MySQL and Snowflake for Tableau reporting.
- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), manage permissions, and monitor dashboard performance in Tableau Cloud.
- Collaborate with business leaders and DevOps to gather requirements and deliver analytics solutions.
- Document dashboards and provide training to business users.
