About The Position

MHS is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and proactive full-time Business Immigration Paralegal at our Brookhaven office. This ideal candidate would have a minimum of 1+ years of experience with Business Immigration Law practice, with tasks including preparing immigrant and non-immigrant employment-based cases (i.e. H-1B, L-1, AOS, I-140, PERM, E-2 and TN), as well as some family-based and naturalization cases; and communications for corporate clients, including discussing pending and new immigration processes with client, tracking immigration expiration dates and answering basic immigration process questions (i.e. timeframes, process flows, etc.). Requirements

  • 1+ years of business immigration experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Adobe (or similar) software and ability to create, edit, modify, redact, and protect pdf files.
  • Ability to execute and work well with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to catch errors and correct work and the work of others
  • Superior client service skills
  • Effectively able to prioritize cases, caseload and other assigned tasks (i.e. projects, company management responsibilities, etc.)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and goals

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Docketwise, Immigration Tracker, or similar immigration case management software is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Lead communication and coordinate with clients to gather required documents for filing applications.
  • Draft forms and support letters for review by attorneys and senior team members
  • Prepare petition and application packages for final review and signature by attorneys before submission to government agencies
  • Organize and maintain accurate records in immigration case management systems for all assigned matters
  • Review intake documentation needed for specific case types to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Identify problematic cases and discuss strategies and/or solutions with Sr. Paralegal/Attorney.
  • Perform case matter billing duties.
  • Manage status of all filed applications and finalize documents.
  • Perform research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc.
  • Initiate contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information; alert Sr. Paralegal/Attorney regarding potential process delays/problems.
  • Prepare internal caseload reports for management.
