About The Position

Capital One's Retail Bank is the 4th largest in the nation. Our Checking, Savings, and CD products are our core offering, but our customer success is heavily driven by our Channels & Operations (C&O) ecosystem - our Call Centers, Cafés, Branches, and Servicing teams. These channels build and maintain enduring customer relationships. Analytical decision making powers our strategy at Capital One. Our Channels & Operations (C&O) Strategy and Insights team consists of ~75 analysts who do everything from selecting our locations, to setting our staffing budgets, to planning our servicing technology roadmaps, and analyzing customer sentiment to improve customer experience. We are seeking top tier strategy talent who is nimble and forward thinking to lead Special Projects in our Retail Bank Channels & Operations (C&O) Strategy & Insights team. Lead Strategic Projects: Take ownership of and drive high priority strategic bodies of work in the Retail Bank (e.g. collaborating with Corporate Strategy on questions related to the Discover Integration, Physical Footprint, and Scaling Servicing to meet our ambitious growth objectives) Analytical Execution: Directly leverage quantitative skills to define hypotheses, structure complex analytical workstreams, and manage dotted-line teams of analysts/data scientists to deliver data-backed recommendations Executive Influence: Act as the key thought partner to the Director+ leadership team in Channels & Operations and to the Vice President for Retail Bank Channels & Operations (C&O) Strategy and Insights. Deliver clear, data-backed recommendations. Team & Culture: Provide cross-team management oversight and support for our team of 75, including championing team recruiting and leading team culture building work This role will begin as an Individual Contributor with a future path towards scaled team leadership over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)
  • At least 7 years of experience in analysis

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of experience in consulting
  • Previous consulting experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Executive Influence: Act as the key thought partner to the Director+ leadership team in Channels & Operations and to the Vice President for Retail Bank Channels & Operations (C&O) Strategy and Insights. Deliver clear, data-backed recommendations.
  • Team & Culture: Provide cross-team management oversight and support for our team of 75, including championing team recruiting and leading team culture building work
  • Strategic leadership:  Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands
  • Leadership:  May manage and develop multiple analysts.  Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One
  • Strategic; analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing; credit risk management
  • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: They should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business
  • Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. They should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results
  • Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills
