The Business Development Specialist partners with attorneys to execute strategies that drive client growth, market visibility, and revenue generation. Collaborating across Business Development, Marketing, and Communications, the Specialist manages proposals, client events, market research, and data-driven initiatives with minimal supervision, applying expertise and sound judgment to achieve strategic goals. This role will drive business development initiatives for a broad set of practices within the Litigation department. Groups within the Litigation department include Commercial Litigation, Antitrust, Asset Management Litigation, Bankruptcy Litigation, and Intellectual Property Litigation, among others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in a similar role in a professional services firm
  • Manage and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision
  • Communicate effectively with lawyers, staff and peers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytic and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM experience preferred
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as a member of a team with a positive attitude
  • Allocate work, prioritize and recognize resources required of a project
  • High level of attention to detail and meticulous follow through
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedule according to workload demands, and evolve with position as required
  • This position will require some physical presence in Proskauer’s offices on a weekly basis.

Responsibilities

  • Support initiatives that strengthen client relationships, drive revenue growth, and advance practice group business plans.
  • Track and analyze client and prospect opportunities in the CRM system, identifying trends and providing insights to support client development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with BD Managers and Associate Directors on cross-selling efforts, client coverage programs, and client feedback processes.
  • Leverage research and analysis to identify growth opportunities and inform business development strategies.
  • Conduct business, client, and industry research to support strategic decision-making and uncover new business opportunities.
  • Manage Foundation data entry workstream and related BD database initiatives, ensuring that experience data, deal records, and client information are accurately maintained, standardized, and leveraged for reporting and business insights.
  • Contribute to the preparation of high-quality client-facing materials and customized proposals that highlight the firm’s strengths and capabilities.
  • Develop and coordinate responses to RFPs and pitch opportunities, conducting market and client research to ensure tailored, strategic submissions.
  • Draft, update, and manage business development materials and experience records, including brochures, one-pagers, and presentations.
  • Manage the process for league table, legal directory, and award submissions – including timeline management, content coordination, drafting, and follow-up – in collaboration with external consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Support client engagement and profile-raising efforts through thoughtful event planning, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Events team on logistics for client events and conferences, including agenda and program preparation, speaker coordination, create invite list and tracking status, and on-site support as needed.
  • Evaluate and assist with the execution of sponsorships, partnerships, and other profile-raising initiatives.
  • Foster strong collaboration across departments to ensure the seamless execution of business development initiatives.
  • Partner with colleagues across Business Development, Marketing, Communications, and other administrative teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality work.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Maintain organized workflows, communicate project status updates, and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Coordinate BD group meetings, including agenda planning, presenter confirmation, and follow-up communications.
