About The Position

The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for driving top-funnel new business for the sales team within the North American electric power industry. You will conduct market research, identify and contact prospects, and qualify opportunities to connect our sales team with senior-level decision-makers. As the first point of contact for our target accounts, you will play a vital role in building rapport and leaving a lasting impression of the Yes Energy brand. Yes Energy delivers real-time market data and electric power trading decision solutions to over 1,000 market participants daily. The business is a leader in all aspects of information content collection and management, developing and delivering data and market analytics solutions. Requirements

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a new business sales or business development role.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in SaaS for Energy Markets.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the Power Energy Industry, specifically calling on Executive and C-Level prospects.
  • Proven history of over-quota sales achievement and successful B2B negotiations.
  • Demonstrated experience using Salesforce CRM or similar tools for lead management.

Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Generation: Generate high-quality pipeline through outbound prospecting (calls, email, LinkedIn, creative outreach)
  • Market Prospecting: Identify and engage key decision-makers across energy companies, traders, IPPs, utilities, and financial firms
  • Lead Conversion: Develop and generate Sales Qualified Leads (SQLs) by following up on marketing-generated leads and inbound requests.
  • Strategic Prospecting: Partner with Account Executives to identify and research key players within target accounts to stimulate new opportunities.
  • Discovery: Conduct high-level discovery conversations to uncover business needs and educate reps on potential opportunities.
  • Relationship Management: Become a trusted resource by having value-based discussions and building productive relationships with prospects.
  • Data Integrity: Update lead scoring and prospect interactions in Salesforce.com to ensure efficient and accurate lead management.
  • Pipeline Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team to plan and execute strategies that meet or exceed pipeline goals.
  • Performance Reporting: Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports of sales results for leadership.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Continuously build industry knowledge to become a subject matter expert in the electric power sector.
