About The Position

The Business Development Representative (BDR) role at Bytagig is a field-based, outbound sales position responsible for generating new business and building a pipeline across Oregon through direct prospecting, in-person meetings, networking, and referral partnerships. The role requires high daily activity, strong relationship-building skills, and disciplined execution with CRM reporting, as success is driven entirely by performance in a commission-based, uncapped earning environment focused on aggressive growth. Bytagig is a managed IT services and cybersecurity firm headquartered in Portland, OR, with a second office in Boise, ID. We serve small and mid-sized professional services companies across the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West. We manage technology infrastructure, cybersecurity programs, compliance, and strategic IT planning so our clients can focus on running their businesses. We are also actively building AI integration and automation solutions for our clients, and this is a growing part of our service offering. Portland is our home market and headquarters. We need a dedicated field sales presence to aggressively grow our pipeline in the Portland metro area, the Willamette Valley, and across Oregon. This role puts you at the center of that growth. This is not a comfortable job. There is no large base salary. There is no pile of inbound leads waiting for you. There is no one holding your hand. This is a field position. You will not be sitting at a computer waiting for website leads to come in. You will be in your car, in parking lots, in office lobbies, at networking breakfasts, and on the phone. Every lead you work is a lead you found yourself. If you are looking for an inside sales role with warm inbound traffic, stop reading now. What there is: a wide-open market, an uncapped comp plan, and a company that runs on the 10X Rule. We believe obscurity is the enemy and massive action is the cure. If you want a role where your income is limited only by your effort, read on. If you are looking for a comfortable seat and a predictable paycheck, this is not it. You will be the Business Development Representative for Oregon. You own prospecting, networking, and pipeline generation across the Portland metro area, the Willamette Valley, and surrounding markets. This is 100% outbound, field-based, top-of-funnel sales. You are not sitting at a desk, refreshing a CRM dashboard, hoping for a lead notification. You are in the field. Every day. Making calls from your car between meetings. Dropping into businesses unannounced. Shaking hands at events and following up relentlessly until you get the meeting. You find the prospects, build the relationships, qualify the opportunity, and hand off to leadership for scoping and closing. You do not own the close. You own everything that comes before it. The quality and volume of your pipeline is how you are measured and paid.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of B2B outside sales experience. IT services, telecom, copier/print, commercial insurance, or similar industries strongly preferred.
  • You have worked a territory before. You know how to build a pipeline from zero with nothing but a phone, a car, and a list.
  • You are comfortable spending your entire day in the field. Your office is your vehicle, not a cubicle.
  • You do not fear rejection. You see every no as one step closer to the next yes.
  • You are obsessed with activity. You track your numbers because you know activity drives results.
  • You show up early, stay late when needed, and do not clock-watch.
  • You are disciplined with CRM usage and daily reporting. Accountability is not a threat to you. It is how you operate.
  • You are a natural relationship builder. You enjoy meeting new people and following up relentlessly.
  • You believe your income should be tied to your effort and results, not a title or tenure.
  • You live in or are willing to relocate to the Portland metro area.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing relationships in the Portland business community.
  • Experience selling managed IT services or cybersecurity solutions.
  • Familiarity with HaloPSA, ConnectWise, Autotask, or similar PSA/CRM tools.
  • Exposure to Grant Cardone training, Cardone University, or 10X methodology.
  • Experience developing referral partner networks.
  • Interest in or exposure to AI tools, automation, and how businesses are adopting them.
  • Experience in a draw-against-commission or performance-heavy compensation structure.

Responsibilities

  • Make 75–150+ outbound touches per week: calls, emails, LinkedIn, and in-person visits.
  • Conduct 15–25+ face-to-face meetings per month with business owners and decision-makers.
  • Walk into businesses you have never visited and start conversations with the people who make IT decisions.
  • Prospect small and mid-sized companies (20–200 employees) in professional services: law firms, accounting firms, financial advisors, real estate, engineering, and healthcare practices.
  • Qualify opportunities and hand off to leadership with documented pain points, decision-maker info, and next steps.
  • Identify and build relationships with referral partners who serve the same SMB verticals: CPAs, attorneys, insurance brokers, commercial real estate agents, and copier reps.
  • Maintain an active referral partner roster. Meet with partners monthly to exchange leads.
  • Target: build a network of 10+ active referral partners within your first 12 months.
  • Attend and actively work Portland Business Alliance events, ProVisors Portland, LeTip chapters, BNI groups, and industry meetups.
  • Join at least two structured networking groups and participate consistently.
  • Engage with Portland-area industry associations: Oregon State Bar referral network, OSCPA, Oregon Association of Realtors, and similar organizations.
  • Log every contact made at events in the CRM the same day.
  • Convert networking contacts into discovery meetings and referral relationships.
  • Build relationships with technology vendor reps and local ISP representatives.
  • Surface vendor-sourced leads and coordinate co-selling opportunities when appropriate.
  • Attend vendor-sponsored events and training to stay current on the solutions Bytagig delivers.
  • Submit a Daily Activity Report every business day. No exceptions.
  • Log all activity in the CRM the same day it happens. If it is not logged, it did not happen.

Benefits

  • Fuel stipend for field activity.
  • Cell phone stipend.
  • Flexible schedule. Results matter, not hours in a chair.
  • Cardone University / 10X training access.
  • Growth opportunity as Bytagig expands across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.
  • Clear path to closing role (Account Executive / BDM) based on performance.
  • Opportunity to grow into AI solution sales as Bytagig expands its AI integration and automation offerings.
