As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you will support our sales team by generating meetings and creating pipeline by identifying and engaging key prospects. You’ll generate pipeline through a mix of inbound lead follow-up, outbound to assigned target accounts, and self-sourced prospecting, crafting a clear point of view for why Tiger Data is a great fit. This is a phone-forward, outbound-first culture where cold calling is a core part of how we win. This role offers a strong path for advancement and promotion, and we’re looking for someone who wants to build a career in tech sales. How we work (startup mindset) We operate like a high-ownership startup team. You’ll be trusted to build, test, and iterate quickly, not wait for the perfect process. We value direct feedback, coachability, and people who take initiative to improve messaging, systems, and outcomes as we scale. Note: While TigerData is a remote-first company, we have are only considering candidates based in Austin, Texas for this role (will be hybrid, in-office approximately 1-2 days per week)

Requirements

  • You are a self-motivated self-starter with a history of hitting ambitious targets
  • You have grit and resilience: you stay consistent through rejection, learn fast, and keep iterating
  • You are comfortable cold calling and using the phone as a primary channel
  • You can confidently engage senior stakeholders and build trust quickly
  • You thrive in a startup environment: you’re comfortable with ambiguity, you move fast, and you turn loose direction into clear execution
  • You have an entrepreneurial, builder mindset: you proactively improve plays, messaging, and process, and you seek and apply feedback quickly
  • You bring strong time management and can balance multiple priorities and challenging targets
  • You have 1+ years of experience in sales/business development, or finance, consulting, or a related analytical field

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years in a customer-facing role including cold calling (sales, SDR/BDR, recruiting, fundraising, or similar)
  • Experience engaging technical audiences
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, LinkedIn, Outreach, Apollo, Google Workspace

Responsibilities

  • Convert inbound leads and qualify “in-market” opportunities
  • Prospect into assigned target accounts and self-source new opportunities
  • Cold call regularly and run multichannel outreach (calls, email, LinkedIn)
  • Research accounts, identify the right buyers, and tailor messaging
  • Build sequences that create urgency and drive replies
  • Develop a clear account POV (why now, why Tiger Data, why it matters) and earn meetings
  • Partner with AEs to align on account strategy, messaging, and next steps
  • Maintain accurate activity and pipeline tracking in Salesforce and related tools
  • Attend industry conferences and events as needed
