About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our team, focusing on expanding our presence within state and local government sectors. This role is crucial in identifying new business opportunities, cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, and driving revenue growth through strategic partnerships and solutions tailored to public sector needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, Public Administration, Political Science, or related field.
  • Over two (2) years of business development, inside sales, or account management experience, ideally in a public sector–focused or government contracting environment.
  • Understanding of the government sales cycle and contracting mechanisms (RFI, RFP, RFQ, GSA Schedules, etc.).
  • Experience with account planning, stakeholder mapping for strategic public sector engagement, and opportunity qualification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to public sector stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting product demonstrations and presentations to clients, partners, and industry stakeholders, ensuring clarity and engagement.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., SalesForce, Outreach, Gong) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and qualify new state and local government opportunities through outbound prospecting, lead generation, and market research.
  • Build and nurture relationships with decision-makers, influencers, and key contacts within public agencies.
  • Develop and execute account plans, including identifying key stakeholders, assessing the political and funding landscape, and monitoring procurement timelines.
  • Conduct live software demonstrations, highlighting key features and benefits to prospective clients.
  • Provide hands-on assistance and guidance during product trials, ensuring customers gain a comprehensive understanding of usage.
  • Contribute to the development and coordination of high-quality RFI and RFP responses, ensuring compliance and alignment with agency goals and priorities.
  • Maintain up-to-date pipeline activity, contacts, and opportunity stages in the CRM (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to support campaigns, presentations, and go-to-market strategies for the public sector.
  • Stay informed on public sector trends, procurement schedules, and competitor positioning.
  • Support territory development plans and execute public sector sales strategy.
