About The Position

The AWS Automotive & Manufacturing Business Development team is seeking a seasoned Business Development leader to drive transformational deals for its largest customers. This role focuses on creating opportunities in Product Engineering and Services (PES) for major players in the Automotive and Manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will possess both business and consulting experience, with a proven track record of engaging with CxO/VP level executives in the Automotive & Manufacturing sector, coupled with a strong understanding of cloud technology to interact effectively with technical architects. The position demands a customer-obsessed mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and a strong sense of ownership to deliver results. Successful candidates will have experience bringing new Product Engineering and Design cloud-enabled solutions to market, with a focus on R&D (CAE, EDA, PLM, PDM, eVDI), and the ability to discuss the entire product lifecycle from design to manufacturing and distribution. As a strategic domain leader, this individual will be responsible for strategy, business development, enablement, and go-to-market activities, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on technical and partner strategies and scaling solutions. The role is part of the Industry Solutions and Specialists (ISS) NAMER team within the Automotive and Manufacturing global business unit. A typical day involves significant customer engagement, supporting account teams with plan reviews, pipeline analysis, and Go-to-Market strategy execution, including travel as needed. The role also includes attending team calls, creating reports, participating in business reviews, escalating resource or technology constraints, staying current with AWS capabilities, guiding solution offerings, managing multiple engagements in a fast-paced cloud market, and supporting internal and external events. The team is diverse, with extensive automotive and manufacturing backgrounds, combining business development and industry solution architect skills to focus on global enterprise accounts and foster relationships with partners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of working with Business Application Technologies, including, but not limited to End User Compute (EUC), Supply Chain, Contact Center as a Service, Consumer Data Applications, Encrypted Communications, and/or Communication Developer Services experience
  • 6+ years of Go-To-Market, Business Development, Sales, or Consulting experience
  • 8+ years of working with Data & AI related technologies, including, but not limited to, AI/ML, GenAI, Analytics, Database, and/or Storage experience
  • 5+ years of solving problems with technology in the Automotive & Manufacturing industries experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Engineering, Design and Services technologies, trends, and customer challenges including CAD/CAE/PLM/PDM/eVDI/

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the team to drive overall market share and strategy for the Automotive and Manufacturing industry.
  • Define and execute on a strategic plan and ensure it's in line with the AWS strategic direction, in partnership with key internal stakeholders (e.g. account teams, industry solution architects, service teams, marketing, partners, legal).
  • Define and size segments, identify and engage key customers and partners including ISVs and system integrators, creating and executing the GTM plan.
  • Serve as the expert for AWS capabilities that can support offerings in the areas of Product Engineering and Services.
  • Build business development pipeline by engaging with key prospects and partners; accelerate existing deals.
  • Understand the technical requirements of our customers and work closely with the internal teams to guide the direction of product and solution offerings for the industry.
  • Understand the use of Salesforce.com and other internal systems.
  • Present business reviews to senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks in expanding our reach in the industry.
  • Support the account team in complex contract negotiations and liaison with the legal and compliance group.
  • Handle a high volume of engagements and interactions in the fast pace of the cloud computing market.
