About The Position

The Business Development Officer Senior SBA performs business development activities in the assigned sales territory, supporting City National Bank's network of business units. This role involves analyzing the needs of prospects and providing information about bank products and services that can enhance clients' financial positions, specifically through government guaranteed products. The officer collaborates with CNB colleagues to close deals and implement banking services, while also documenting all calling activity and providing necessary reports to management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SBA environment required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a direct sales environment required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous underwriting experience is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of Bank asset and liability products.
  • Thorough understanding of banking services.
  • General understanding of the commercial credit underwriting process.
  • Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated sales skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs external prospect development activities in assigned territory.
  • Develops relationships with prospects to increase overall business done by office or region.
  • Reviews, structures, processes, and fulfills complex transactions.
  • Calls on prospective clients to identify their needs and appropriate products/services.
  • Cultivates referral sources through community involvement to obtain new business prospects.
  • Builds and develops prospects into clients, discussing and cross-selling appropriate products/services.
  • Achieves specific business development goals and maintains call reports.
  • Works with management to plan business development opportunities.
  • Maintains limited personal contact with new clients and collaborates with relationship managers.
  • Passes off prospects to Relationship Managers after deals are closed.
  • Interacts with bank colleagues to discuss prospects/referrals and formulate sales strategies.
  • Assists in training CNB colleagues on SBA and other Government Guaranteed products.
  • Raises awareness of SBA/Government Guaranteed products throughout the bank.
  • Complies with banking laws, regulations, and internal policies.
