About the position

The Business Development Manager position (Italian Segment) at Performance Foodservice involves maintaining established profit margins on accounts, managing monthly bid evaluations, and ensuring timely delivery of products to customers. The role requires establishing and maintaining a profitable member base of assigned accounts, developing positive relationships with members, and promoting local and corporate entities. The manager will also maintain and grow business with existing multi-unit customers, prospect for new customers, and implement new sales programs and strategies. Additionally, the position involves determining pricing strategies, monitoring competition, and communicating with customers regarding process issues. The manager will keep adequate sales records, maintain strong product knowledge, and inform management of market conditions. The role includes attending sales meetings, reviewing market analysis, and establishing yearly goals with each member in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain established profit margins on accounts and manage monthly bid evaluations
  • Ensure delivery of products to customers to meet acceptable customer expectations
  • Establish and maintain a profitable member base of assigned member accounts
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with members while promoting local and corporate entities
  • Maintain and grow business with existing multi-unit customers
  • Prospect for and sell new multi-unit customers where designated
  • Implement new sales programs and strategies with member base
  • Develop and achieve an annual business plan in conjunction with the SVP of Business Development
  • Determine pricing strategies at appropriate profit margin levels
  • Monitor competition
  • Communicate with customers and personnel regarding process issues
  • Keep adequate sales records and materials necessary for professional sales presentations
  • Maintain strong working product knowledge and selling skills
  • Inform management of current market conditions and competitive changes
  • Attend branch sales meetings, seminars, and other designated meetings
  • Review market analysis to determine customer needs and develop sales campaigns
  • Establish yearly goals and objectives with each member in the region
  • Promote and sell Preferred Vendor Programs and Corporate Brands
  • Formulate and effectuate company policy with respect to regional sales functions
  • Submit required reports
  • Interface with Global Accounts to promote and increase account penetration

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
  • 4 years of foodservice sales/marketing experience
  • Knowledge of Italian cuisine and culture

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales/Marketing or related area
  • 5-10 years of foodservice sales/marketing experience
  • 2 years of Italian foodservice segment experience
  • Proficient in food cuttings involving Italian segment products
  • Active knowledge of the Georgia and South Carolina restaurant scenes and trends
  • General understanding of restaurant operations including back of the house operations
