Requirements

  • 10+ Years experience leading business development efforts for professional services organizations. Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or related field required.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and power user level expertise in using resource planning, CRM and financial software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to mentor junior staff, build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client-service attitude with ability to multi-task and accomplish multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, build, and maintain positive relationships with clients and project delivery partners in the North Eastern market.
  • Develop and implement strategies that market the company to build business.
  • Increase awareness of the company in the marketplace, market expansion, development of new business and new relationships, and maintaining existing relationships.
  • Motivate and mentor local staff to participate in business development efforts.
  • Work with the structural engineering teams in North East/Mid Atlantic.
  • Assist the Managing Directors, Focus Market Leaders and business development leaders in developing, communicating, and implementing the business development plan for the region.
  • Facilitate strategic plan development to achieve new business goals.
  • Research target markets, clients, and project opportunities to determine where to focus business development effort.
  • Coordinate business development efforts with Atlanta business development leaders.
  • Create a strategy/capture plan for targeted client and project pursuits including thorough notes and matrices as needed.
  • Participate in corporate-wide committees, initiatives, and relevant training courses.
  • Respond to client’s requests for qualifications and proposals and oversee the development and delivery of qualifications, proposals, presentations, interview preparation, and working with our marketing coordinator (MC) team and others.
  • Oversee our Marketing Coordinator in final production of proposals, provide guidance for graphics and layouts for proposals, and ensure all materials produced are consistent with WPM marketing standards.
  • Submit and maintain project opportunities in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Manage and perform business development initiatives and activities, coordinating and collaborating with Atlanta and other operating groups within the company as required.
  • Lead bi-weekly internal business development calls with relevant Charlotte and Raleigh personnel.
  • Utilize communications tools in support of the BD Process, including our CRM system, and the Microsoft suite of products including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Power BI and others.
  • Assist corporate marketing with major activities (awards, press releases, publications, etc.) related to the region.
  • Coordinate client meetings and business activities with staff.
  • Focus staff’s attention on top clients and project pursuits.
  • Generate new project opportunities by developing and maintaining relationships with existing and/or new clients and project delivery partners.
  • Continuously evaluate client relationships and markets.
  • Actively participate in appropriate industry, professional, and community organizations.
  • Attend strategic regional and at times national AEC industry conferences.
