The Herff Jones College Division team is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. In the role of Business Development Manager, you will serve as a key leader on the college sales team. Your focus will be centered around qualifying leads, hunting new business opportunities, building relationship across campuses, working with key decision makers to understand campus priorities and pain points, and maintaining the new business pipeline for the Herff Jones College Division. You will have multiple daily and weekly interactions with our team of dedicated independent sales partners, cross-functional leaders throughout the organization, and potential customers to secure additional sales. You will work closely with college sales team to provide constant feedback on the voice of customer, promoting the continuous improvement of the overall selling activities. The relationships with other members of the sales team and your ability to spend every day linking leads and connections to generate new business will ultimately determine success in the role.

Requirements

  • Successful background in a Sales, Marketing or business-related field
  • Proven success in communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and customer service skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Self-motivator and works well independently
  • Proven ability to build relationships across functions and locations using a variety of mediums
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business discipline
  • Previous experience in sales or marketing role

Responsibilities

  • Meet annual sales quotas and secure meetings for sales leadership
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of the marketplace, product offering, value propositions and programs between Herff Jones and its competitors
  • Execute daily cadence of prospecting and conversations to qualify leads and create new qualified opportunities
  • Collaborate with other members of the College Sales team to build a scalable, repeatable, top-of-funnel process
  • Share, learn, and collaborate with team members to develop strategies, improve execution, and ideas that drive great team results and success
  • Build relationships with potential customers to identify their potential needs and qualify their interests and viability to drive sales
  • Become intimately involved in tracking opportunities in your designated territory
  • Be viewed as a key representative of Herff Jones at trade shows, and similar events to create business opportunities
  • Maintain a new business pipeline in Salesforce that supports annual sales quota attainment
  • Record all new business activity, such as campus contacts, key discovery information and pertinent updates in Salesforce, utilizing SF tools and reporting for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Work closely with our independent sales partners to drive consistent follow-up and move opportunities through the pipeline
  • Use social media platforms to build quarterly campaigns for outreach to potential customers
  • Build relationships with influencers and key decision makers on campuses, focusing much of your efforts around the discovery and solutioning stages of the sales cycle
  • Arrange to connect with potential customers through virtual or in-person meetings to further interest and develop relationships
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations and pitches for prospective clients
  • Work closely with Marketing to develop and execute campaigns and provide feedback to maximize impact
  • Populate new business scorecards and report progress on a biweekly basis to members of the college sales team and other key stakeholders
